Local-eyes is independently owned and published by local resident and businesswoman, Sarah Prosser.
"Having worked in advertising and marketing for over 20 years, I could see that there was a gap in the market for a truly local publication which had the right balance of advertising, editorial and what’s on information. I am passionate about supporting the economy in our local area and wanted to be able to provide affordable advertising for all businesses. People like to "buy locally" but I felt that this would happen more often if the community got to know the people behind the businesses. So our business profiles and features enable readers to do just that.
As a working parent, time off with my family is really important, but I often found it difficult to find out what was happening in our area. I wanted to make sure that an up to date What’s On guide was available and accessible to everyone and therefore incorporated this into the magazine .
Given the number of visitors to the area, it was also important to me that the magazine had a high quality feel to it. Therefore I enlisted the help of previous colleagues to ensure that the magazine would be seen as high quality with good design and useful content.
It’s been a lot of hard work but it’s also been extremely rewarding! People told me I was mad to start a new business in the middle of a recession, but it’s worked! I want to personally thank everyone who has supported me in this venture and most importantly the readers of the magazine."
